EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Truck Check

Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a commercial vehicle truck check conducted in Troop I from October 6, 2014 through October 10, 2014. Commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers from both Troop I and various other troops, concentrated their enforcement efforts in Phelps, Pulaski, and Laclede counties.
During the weeklong operation, officers completed 197 commercial vehicle inspections. During those inspections, 361 violations were discovered. Detected violations resulted in six unsafe drivers and 42 safety deficient vehicles being removed from Missouri’s highways. As a result, 46 citations and arrests were made and 315 warnings were issued throughout the detail.
Captain Remillard stated, “It is so very important that both the driver of a commercial vehicle and the truck and trailer for which they are responsible are in compliance with all traffic safety laws and regulations. Through concentrated enforcement efforts such as this, the Patrol hopes to make our highways safer for all motorists.”
In support of “The Drive To Zero Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
