EMPHASIS: Trooper Michael L. Newton Toy Drive

Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee’s Summit, would like to remind everyone the 8th Annual Trooper Michael L. Newton toy drive is under way. Toy donations may be made at all metro area Krispy Kreme Doughnut stores. Krispy Kreme is giving away a free dozen doughnuts to anyone who donates a new toy with a value of $10. Donations of electronic games, board games, and new children’s books are encouraged.
The toy drive is a cooperative effort between the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Kansas Highway Patrol, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, the Children’s Miracle Network, and the citizens we serve. The drive is designated to help children who are forced to spend the Christmas holiday season in the hospital. All donations to the drive will be delivered to children at KU Medical Center and the Ronald McDonald House. Troopers will deliver the toys personally to the kids on Monday, December 20, 2010.
“Please consider donating a toy, so a child who is otherwise going through a difficult situation might experience some joy during challenging time,” said Capt. Powell.
