EMPHASIS: Buoy Audit For 2014

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reminds all buoy permittees to inspect their buoys for the upcoming season.

Captain Gregory D. Kindle, commanding officer, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F, would like to remind all persons permitted to place buoys on the Lake of the Ozarks to check the condition of their buoys and ensure they are placed within compliance of the permit granted. This past winter was harsh and the lake conditions could have certainly affected your buoys in several ways. Marine operations troopers assigned to the Lake of the Ozarks will be conducting buoy inspections in the coming weeks to ensure buoys are in good serviceable condition, properly marked with the permit number, placed in accordance with the permit, and registered to the current property owner.

"On behalf of the Patrol, I want to express our appreciation to the public for assisting us in properly maintaining permitted buoys," said Captain Kindle. "I would also remind all dock owners it is a violation of state statute to place an unauthorized buoy on the state’s waterways."

In support of “The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,” the Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Have a great boating season and please report all impaired operators by calling Troop F Headquarters at 573-751-1000 or dialing *55 on a cellular telephone.
