EMPHASIS: Monroe City Resident Arrested On Drug Charges

On August 22, 2007, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper attempted to make contact with Robert C. Dorsey, 21, of Hannibal, MO, who was standing in a parking lot of a business on Market Street, in Hannibal. As the trooper approached Dorsey he was observed dropping an item on the ground. He then fled the area on foot and was not immediately apprehended. The item was identified as being a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine.
On August 23, 2007, at 4:10 p.m., Dorsey was arrested in Monroe City, MO, by the Monroe City Police Department for two counts of felony possession of a controlled substance and felony resisting arrest. He was incarcerated in the Marion County Jail pending issuance of warrants.
The Patrol was assisted by the Monroe City Police Department and Hannibal Police Department.
The charges for which Dorsey was arrested are mere accusation and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
