EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers To Participate In Operation Lifesaver Activities

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces on May 7, 2014, Troop B officers along with officers from the Hannibal and Monroe City police departments, and employees with the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration will be working with Missouri Operation Lifesaver volunteers in the Hannibal and Monroe City areas. The goal of this event is to raise the awareness level of railroad crossing safety and trespass prevention. Officers will be part of safety teams who will visit with motorists briefly in advance of certain railroad crossings and remind drivers about railroad safety tips as they approach crossings.
Operation Lifesaver has recently launched a new safety campaign "See Tracks? Think Train" with the goal of encouraging drivers and pedestrians to always expect a train anytime they are near railroad tracks.
For more information on Operation Lifesaver, contact Rick Mooney, Missouri Operation Lifesaver state coordinator, at 573-634-4113 (office) or 573-230-3284 (cell). For additional information or statistics, please visit the national website at www.oli.org.
In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
