EMPHASIS: Troop A Officers To Participate In "Click It Or Ticket" Enforcement Campaign.
Lieutenant Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, announces a “Click It Or Ticket” enforcement operation beginning on May 19, 2008. Troop A officers will be conducting the “Click It Or Ticket” campaign in Platte, Clay, Jackson, Lafayette, and Johnson counties during the last two weeks of May, concluding on June 1, 2008.
A zero-tolerance policy for seat belt use will be in effect throughout this operation to raise seat belt awareness and compliance. Electronic message boards, provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation, will be activated reminding motorists of the campaign. The enforcement operation is part of a national campaign, and will be conducted statewide in Missouri.
“Every time you get into a vehicle, you are at risk of being involved in a traffic crash,” stated Lieutenant Powell. “You cannot control the actions of other drivers. Taking three seconds to properly fasten and adjust your seat belt is one thing you can control, and one way to increase your chance of surviving a traffic crash.”
