EMPHASIS: Drug Arrest In Saline County
On December 29, 2007, at approximately 8:28 p.m., a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper stopped to assist a motorist on Route EE north of I-70 in Saline County. The motorist, who was occupying a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix, told the trooper that he was lost. Several inconsistencies were found during the conversation with the driver. The trooper deployed his assigned K-9, which alerted on the trunk. Fourteen one-pound bundles of marijuana were located in the vehicle.
The driver, Leon N. Stanley, 25, of College Park, Georgia, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and taken to the Saline County Jail.
The charge for which Stanley was arrested is a mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
