EMPHASIS: Sobriety Checkpoint Results
On September 7, 2010, a sobriety checkpoint was conducted in Buchanan County. A total of 13 troopers were assigned to the four-hour operation.
Troopers arrested one driver for driving while intoxicated, made five misdemeanor and three felony warrant arrests, issued one seat belt summons, wrote five driver’s license violations, and issued one summons for a non-moving violation. Troopers also issued 51 warnings to motorists for minor violations. A total of 241 vehicles came into the checkpoint.
Captain Duane L. Robinson stated, “These checkpoints are an important part of keeping the highways safe for the motoring public. Impaired drivers are truly dangerous and will not be tolerated.”
