EMPHASIS: Results Of Child Passenger Safety Enforcement Operation Conducted In The Troop B Area


Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a child passenger safety enforcement program held in the Troop B area from September 19, 2010 through September 25, 2010, which coincided with the National Child Passenger Safety Week. During the enforcement effort, four troopers placed a special emphasis on taking enforcement action on drivers (and their passengers) who were stopped for traffic violations and were not properly restrained. As a result of the enforcement operation, troopers issued 68 traffic summonses and issued 69 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

26 -- Summonses for speed
35 -- Summonses for seat belt violations
5 -- Summonses for child restraint violations
2 -- Summonses for insurance violations

"There is no doubt that seat belts and child restraint seats have saved the lives of many individuals involved in traffic crashes," stated Captain Wilt. "Please do your part in reducing Missouri traffic fatalities by making sure everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained."
