EMPHASIS: Troop D: Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Seizure In Greene County

On October 3, 2012, at approximately 3:52 p.m., an eastbound 2010 Ford cargo truck was stopped by a state trooper for exceeding the speed limit at the 81-mile marker of Interstate 44, in Greene County. After discovering several discrepancies, a canine was called to the scene. A canine sniff resulted in a positive alert, and a search of the cargo area of the truck revealed 171 pounds of marijuana hidden under a load of furniture.

The driver, Brian D. Hearne, 47, of Detroit, MI, was arrested for drug trafficking and transported to Greene County Sheriff's Office in Springfield.

The charge for which the above person was arrested is mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the above charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
