EMPHASIS: Interstate 29 Narcotic Seizure
On May 18, 2007, Linda Clarke, 43, of North Highlands, CA, was stopped on southbound Interstate 29 for failing to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle. The 1992 Acura was stopped five miles north of St. Joseph in Andrew County. During the conversation with a trooper, Clarke admitted to having a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. Troopers then conducted a search of the vehicle and located 14 white plastic jars and five plastic bags containing approximately one pound of marijuana. Clarke was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver. She was then incarcerated in the Andrew County Jail.
The charge for which Clarke has been arrested is a mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
