EMPHASIS: Hannibal Resident Arrested On Burglary Charges


On Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at approximately 10:48 a.m., the Ralls County 9-1-1 Center requested members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department to respond to 55115 Route M, in rural Ralls County, to a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers learned the owner of the residence was detaining an individual who was attempting to break into the residence.
Following an investigation of the incident, Cody S. Rickey, 17, of Hannibal, Missouri, was arrested for felony 1st degree burglary, felony stealing, felony unlawful use of a weapon, and felony armed criminal action. Rickey was transported to the Marion County Jail where he is being held pending issuance of warrants. The Patrol was assisted by the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department, the Northeast Missouri Drug Task Force, and the New London Police Department.
The charges for which Rickey was arrested are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charges must be presented to a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is determine guilt or innocence.
