EMPHASIS: Sergeant Rick Lisenbe Retires From Highway Patrol







On January 1, 2005, after 24 years of dedicated service, Sergeant Richard L. Lisenbe retired as a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Sergeant Lisenbe was born in Rolla, Missouri and graduated from Rolla High School in 1971. Prior to his appointment to the Highway Patrol, Sgt Lisenbe worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C and served as both a sheriff’s deputy and juvenile officer in Phelps County.

Sergeant Lisenbe’s career with the Highway Patrol began on January 5, 1981, when he entered the training academy in Jefferson City. Following his graduation on June 5, 1981, Sgt. Lisenbe filled a vacancy that existed in his native Phelps County. He was assigned to Troop I, Zone 2, and was responsible for patrolling the highways in Maries, Phelps and Dent Counties. Sergeant Lisenbe was promoted to the rank of Corporal on May 1, 1990 and then to Sergeant on June 1, 2000. Sergeant Lisenbe was serving as the Zone Sergeant for Zone 1, which covers Phelps and Maries Counties when he retired, but throughout his career served in various other roles. These other responsibilities include: Troop I canine officer, officer-in-charge of marijuana eradication and then later officer-in-charge of drug interdiction. Sergeant Lisenbe’s expertise in drug interdiction also led him to assisting the Drug Enforcement Administration in instructing other law enforcement officers throughout the world.

Sergeant Lisenbe and is wife Donna have two grown children, Richard Lisenbe Jr. and Rebecca Kerns, both of Rolla, and one grandchild.
