Troop B Announces Promotions And Transfer
Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the following Troop B transfer and promotions effective August 1, 2018.
Sergeant Daniel Spring is transferring from Zone 3, Chariton and Linn counties, to Zone 4, Putnam and Sullivan counties, where he will be designated the zone commander. Sergeant Spring was appointed to the Patrol on June 29, 2003. After graduating from the Patrol Academy, he was assigned to Troop H and stationed in Maryville, Missouri. On November 12, 2006, he transferred to Troop B, Zone 4, Putnam and Sullivan counties. On July 1, 2015, he was promoted to corporal, and designated the assistant zone commander of Zone 5, Adair and Schuyler counties. On April 1, 2017, he was promoted to sergeant, and designated the zone commander of Zone 3, Chariton and Linn counties.
He is a native of Centerville, Iowa, and graduated from Moulton-Udell High School in Moulton, Iowa. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. He and his wife, Shayla (McCormack), have two children.
Corporal Clinton M. Duppong was promoted to sergeant and remains in his current assignment. Sergeant Duppong was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 1997. After graduating from the Patrol Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 6, Clark and Scotland counties. On July 14, 2008, he transferred to the Troop B Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division. On September 1, 2010, he was promoted to corporal and designated the assistant supervisor of the Troop B Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
He is a native of Quincy, Illinois, and graduated from Quincy Notre Dame High School. He earned Bachelor of Science in law enforcement justice administration, and a Bachelor of Science in recreation, parks, and tourism administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He and his wife Jill (Schutte) have two children.
Corporal Brandon Griffin was promoted to sergeant and designated the zone commander of Zone 3, Chariton and Linn counties. Sergeant Griffin was appointed to the Patrol on January 18, 2004, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy, was assigned to Troop C, Pike and Lincoln counties. On April 1, 2007, he transferred to Troop B and was assigned to Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. On November 2, 2016, he was promoted to corporal and designated the assistant zone commander of Zone 9.
He is a native of Palmyra, Missouri, and graduated from Palmyra High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. He and his wife, Brandi (Waters), have two children: Cole and Andrew.
Trooper Kyle V. McGivney was promoted to corporal and designated the assistant zone commander of Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. Corporal McGivney was appointed to the Patrol on January 16, 2013, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy, was assigned to Troop B, Zone 7, Knox and Lewis counties.
He is a native of Apple River, Illinois, and graduated from Warren High School in Warren, Illinois. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business management/health from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. He and his wife, Alex (McFadden), have two children.
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
