EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E DWI Checkpoint In Wayne County


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a DWI checkpoint conducted in Troop E, Wayne County, beginning at 11 p.m. on June 10, 2011 and ending at 3 a.m. on June 11, 2011. During the operation, troopers were assigned to conduct a sobriety checkpoint on U.S. 67 in Wayne County.

Troopers made 20 arrests during the checkpoint: two felony drug arrests, six misdemeanor drug arrests, and one misdemeanor driving while intoxicated arrest. Traffic citations issued by officers included seven for failure to wear a seatbelt, two for failure to produce proof of insurance, one hazardous driving, and one no driver's license.

Captain Ridens stated, "The DWI checkpoints are a part of the Patrol's effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal."
