EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Promotion

Captain Lester D. Elder, director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Gaming Division, announced effective June 1, 2008, Trooper Michael C. Arand was promoted to the rank of corporal. Corporal Arand is assigned to the Jefferson City Background Investigation Unit.

Arand was born in Columbia, Missouri, and graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1979. He attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, and majored in mass communications. He was employed as a computer operator with the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Information Systems Division, Jefferson City, Missouri, prior to his appointment as a uniformed member of the Patrol. Arand entered the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on August 1, 1993. After completing the training, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 11, Miller and Camden counties. Arand has also been assigned to the Patrol’s Gaming Division, Troop D (Dallas/Hickory counties), and Troop F (Cole/Callaway counties), before returning to the Gaming Division as an investigator in November 2006.

Corporal Arand has four children: Mallory, 23; Paige, 21; Adam, 9, and Alexandra, 7.
