During the operation troopers were assigned to conduct a sobriety checkpoint at locations known to produce several DWI arrests and traffic crashes.

Troopers made 17 arrests during the shift: five arrests for driving while intoxicated, five minor in possession arrests, four misdemeanor drug arrests, one other misdemeanor warrant arrest, and two felony drug arrests. Traffic citations issued by officers included four seat belt violations, six no driver’s license, and two non-moving violations. Troopers also issued 155 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation. A total of 497 vehicles were stopped as well as 20 commercial vehicles. Officers conducted 44 field sobriety checks.

Captain Ridens stated, “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri. DWI saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways and the troopers in the Troop E will continue to pursue this goal.”
