EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop On Interstate-55 Results In Drug Arrest

On March 17, 2008, at approximately 9:50 p.m. a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 1998 Toyota pickup truck traveling south on US Highway 61 in Cape Girardeau County for a traffic violation.
Scott A. Talley, 40, of Jackson, Missouri, was the driver of a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. During the course of the traffic stop, permission to search was requested and granted. During the search two pounds of marijuana and five grams of methamphetamine were located in the cab of the truck. Scott A. Talley was arrested for possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute and taken to the Cape Girardeau County Jail. The Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Department and the SEMO Drug Task Force assisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The charge for which Scott A. Talley was arrested is mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
