EMPHASIS: Commercial Motor Vehicle Division conducts complimentary truck inspections.

Captain G.E. Ridens, Commanding Officer, Troop E, announces the commercial vehicle division will conduct complimentary truck inspections at the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) District 10 facility on June 7 and 8, 2006.

Commercial vehicle officers will be conducting inspections at the MoDOT District 10 Office, located on US 61 north of Sikeston, Missouri, on June 7 and 8, 2006. No tickets will be issued for equipment violations during this operation. If the vehicle has no violations of critical inspection items, CVSA decals will be applied. If violations are detected, the operator will be given the opportunity to correct the defect and decals will then be applied.

During the inspection, a representative of the company is urged to be present with the vehicle so the inspecting officer can explain the procedure. Officers will also be available to explain and demonstrate “bridge law’ calculations. Questions concerning over dimension loads and permits, highway reciprocity, fuel tax, CDL’s, operating authority, hazardous materials, and load securment will be welcomed.

This special check is mainly for area dump trucks, farmers, or small businesses with only one or two trucks. Fleet owners are welcome to send one vehicle if accompanied by some one who will be able to observe the inspection.

This operation is to help local trucker drivers and farmers better understand the importance of good vehicle inspections and how to perform them, making our highways safer for everyone, and preventing unwanted tickets and breakdowns.
