Troop B Announces Promotions
Captain Erik A. Gottman, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the following promotions effective June 1, 2023.
Trooper Philip B. Grubaugh will be promoted to the rank of corporal and remain in Zone 13, Marine Operations.
Corporal Grubaugh was appointed to the Patrol on July 1, 2010, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 3, Linn and Chariton counties. On July 1, 2014, Grubaugh transferred to Troop B, Zone 13, Marine Operations. Corporal Grubaugh is a native of Cuba, Missouri, and graduated from Cuba High School. Prior to his appointment to the Patrol, he attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. Corporal Grubaugh and his wife Alisa (Klingenberg) have two children, Easton and Harper.
Trooper Riley D. Johnson will be promoted to the rank of corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 6, Scotland, Clark, Knox, and Lewis counties.
Corporal Johnson was appointed to the Patrol on January 1, 2017, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy he was assigned to Troop E, Zone 9, New Madrid and Pemiscot counties. On November 1, 2019, Johnson transferred to Troop B, Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. On August 1, 2021, Johnson transferred to Troop B, Zone 5, Adair and Schuyler counties. Corporal Johnson is a native of Kirksville, Missouri, and graduated from Kirksville High School. Prior to his appointment to the Patrol, he attended Moberly Area Community College in Kirksville, Missouri, where he graduated with his Associate of Arts in general studies. Corporal Johnson served honorably in the United States Army Reserves as a military police officer from 2013-2021. Corporal Johnson and his wife, Ashley (Playle), have one child, Fletcher Johnson.
Trooper James P. Johnson will be promoted to the rank of corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 10, Randolph and Monroe counties.
Corporal Johnson was appointed to the Patrol on October 20, 2002, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 8, Marion and Ralls counties. Corporal Johnson is a native of Macon, Missouri, and graduated from Macon High School. Prior to his appointment to the Patrol, he attended Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri, where he graduated with an Associate of Arts in general studies.
