EMPHASIS: New Technology helps keep Troopers safe and communications personel updated.

Troop D, along with other troops across the state, has a new tool that tracks Patrol vehicles. The new technology called, “Automated Vehicle Location Technology” (AVLT), consists of a GPS tracking system and a dedicated display screen in the troop communication room that shows the location of every Patrol vehicle in that troop.

This technology is invaluable for several reasons such as, locating an officer if involved in a critical incident, during a pursuit an officer can be directed by radio personnel of dangerous roadways and suggested routes to take to apprehend a suspect, or an erratic or drunk driver is reported by a citizen then radio personnel can use AVLT to find the trooper that is closest to the suspected driver or incident.

These are just a few of the applications for the technology. If you would like to view the GPS tracking system contact Sgt. Dan Bracker at 417-895-6767 / ext. 253.
