EMPHASIS: Criminal Investigator Sergeant Jeffrey L. VanTress Retires

Captain Paul D. Kerperin, director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control, announces the following retirement effective May 1, 2020:

Sergeant Jeffrey L. VanTress, Q/DDCC, will retire after nearly, 31 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Missouri.

VanTress was appointed to the Missouri State Highway Patrol on July 1, 1989, as a member of the 61st Recruit Class. After graduating from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop B, Zone 5, Schuyler and Adair counties, as a road officer. He was promoted to the rank of corporal in September 1, 1994, and designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop B, Zone 8, Marion and Ralls counties. On July 1, 1998, he was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Troop B, Zone 9, Marion and Ralls counties. On October 1, 2016, VanTress transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, and was assigned as a criminal investigator in Troop B, Macon, MO.

Sgt. VanTress grew up in Canton, MO. He graduated from Canton High School in 1983. He earned a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, in 1987. Sgt. VanTress and his wife, Meredith, have five children: Lindsay, Lauren, and Tanner VanTress, and Colton and Owen Andrews.
