EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces July 4th Holiday Totals


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the July 4th traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop E area, which consists of 13 counties in Southeast Missouri. Troop E officers investigated 64 traffic crashes, which resulted in one fatality and 42 injuries. Troop E officers working on Interstate 55 participated in the 20-Mile Trooper project. Troopers assigned to this operation worked 12-hour shifts to patrol 20-mile intervals on major highways and interstates in Southeast Missouri on Tuesday July 3, 2012 and Sunday July 8, 2012. Totals from this operation include:

449--speed summonses
214--seat belt summonses
19--child restraint summonses
32--driving while intoxicated arrests
42--drug arrests
1404--warnings
519--motorist assists

Captain Ridens said, “Even though this major holiday period has ended, we want to urge motorists to continue to drive safely and always wear their seat belts.”
