EMPHASIS:
Troop B Officers To Participate In C.A.R.E. Lifesaver Weekend
Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that Troop B officers will be participating in the statewide 2016 C.A.R.E. Lifesaver Weekend in an effort to stop people from driving while impaired this holiday season. Enforcement efforts will be increased from December 16, 2016, through December 19, 2016, and will focus on reducing deaths and injuries caused by impaired drivers.
During the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season, the Patrol encourages drivers to make sure safe driving is a priority. Troopers will be working hard throughout the holidays promoting safety on our highways.
With the possibility of winter precipitation arriving during this time of year, the Patrol also asks motorists to pay attention to weather forecasts and check the road conditions by checking the Missouri Department of Transportation website
(www.modot.org
), or by calling the road condition hotline at 1-888-275-6636 before they plan to travel.
"The holiday season is a time for many celebrations, and some of those celebrations may include alcohol," stated Captain Wilt. "Losing a loved one during the holiday season is a tragedy no one should have to endure. If drinking alcohol is a part of your plans, be responsible and choose a sober driver."
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
