Troop B Prepares For Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic
Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces Troop B officers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. during the 2017 Thanksgiving holiday weekend, which will begin on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, and conclude on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Troopers in Troop B, and across the state, will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness & Reduction Effort) The objective of these operations is to promote safety and reduce traffic crashes.
During this enforcement operation, troopers will be assigned to patrol Missouri highways, not only aggressively enforcing traffic laws, but also to be available in the event motorists experience any type of emergency. Troopers will be especially attentive to violations indicating distracted driving. In addition to Operation C.A.R.E., on Wednesday, November 22, and Sunday November 26, additional Troop B troopers will conduct special enforcement operations on U.S. Highway 63 and portions of U.S. Highways 24 and 36. During this operation, all available troopers will be assigned to those more heavily traveled roadways in an effort to promote safety and reduce traffic crashes on the primary roadways in Troop B.
"We expect many motorists to be traveling throughout Missouri over this holiday period," stated Captain Wilt. "Our goal is very simple: We want everyone to arrive at their destination safely. Please obey all traffic laws, ensure that everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained, and never drink and drive."
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
