EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E DWI Saturation

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, announces the results of a driving while intoxicated saturation conducted in Troop E on July 27, 2007. During the operation troopers were assigned to patrol highways that, historically, have experienced a higher number of traffic crashes and hazardous moving violations.
Troopers made seven arrests during the shift, including four arrests for driving while intoxicated, one felony arrest, and two misdemeanor arrests. Traffic citations issued by officers included four summonses for speeding, five summonses for seat belt violations, one summons for failing to properly restrain a child, one summons for no driver’s license, one summons for no proof of insurance, three hazardous moving violations, and three nonmoving violations. Troopers also issued 35 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.
“The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri,” Captain Ridens stated. “DWI and hazardous driving saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated and dangerous drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal.”
