EMPHASIS: New "It's My Life" Video Program Produced by Patrol

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is pleased to announce the completion of a new safe driving video focused toward teen drivers. The video, titled “It’s My Life,” replaces the “Stop the Knock” video introduced by the Patrol four years ago.

The “It’s My Life” video focuses on the permanent affect traffic crashes leave behind in Missouri, including thousands of injuries and nearly 1,200 deaths each year. The video provides actual crash scene photos collected by troopers from across the state and heartfelt testimonials of both crash survivors and those left to mourn the death of a crash victim.

Captain George Ridens added, “This program is a very important part of our goal to make the highways a safe place for everyone to travel. We care about that goal not only because it’s our job, but as this video will show, it directly affects the safety of our own families as well. This program clearly brings that message to the screen like never before, and hopefully, it will convince everyone who sees it to wear their seat belt and drive just a little safer.”

The video is a collaborative effort between the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Chaffee R-II School District, University of Missouri Hospital, Heartland Regional Medical Center, the Hannibal Loafers Car Club, and State Farm Insurance.

For more information concerning this video or to schedule a presentation (including media viewings), please contact Sergeant Larry W. Plunkett, Jr., Public Information and Education Officer for Troop E, phone 573-840-9500. This video is approximately 20 minutes in length and is normally accompanied by a brief presentation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
