EMPHASIS: Dedication of Ross Creach Memorial Highway





Captain Dale A. Schmidt, Commanding Officer Troop F, Jefferson City, announced today that on Friday, September 29, 2006, a portion of U.S. 54 in Camden County will be designated as Trooper Ross Creach Memorial Highway. The dedication ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the Macks Creek Baptist Church, Macks Creek, Mo.



Trooper Ross S. Creach, 24, was struck by a car driven by a drunk driver and killed on December 12, 1943. The incident occurred on US-36 in Shelby County while Trooper Creach was directing traffic at the scene of an accident. Trooper Creach was the fifth officer to be killed in the line of duty.



Trooper Creach was born on January 25, 1919 in Macks Creek and graduated from Macks Creek High School in 1935.
