EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop On U.S. 61 Results In Drug Arrest




On February 9, 2008, at approximately 11:10 a.m. a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 1995 Chevrolet traveling north on U.S. Highway 61 in Scott County for a traffic violation.
The driver was identified as Melvin G. Minks, 25, of Chaffee, Missouri. During the course of the traffic stop, permission to search was requested and granted. As a result of the search, and a Patrol K-9 sniff one pound of marijuana was located under the center console. Melvin G. Minks was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and taken to the Scott County Jail.
The charge for which Melvin G. Minks was arrested is mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
