EMPHASIS: Troop E Thanksgiving Summary

Captain George Ridens, Commanding Officer of Troop E, released enforcement totals for the Thanksgiving Holiday Period and the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) totals that were collected from 6 p.m. November 23, 2005 through 11:59 p.m. November 27, 2005.

Troopers from the thirteen county troop investigated two fatality crashes that resulted in four deaths and 35 accidents that resulted in 27 injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in six of the crashes reported. Troopers arrested 20 individuals for DWI, issued 319 speed citations, 354 speed warnings, 162 seat belt violations, 10 child restraint violations, and assisted 126 motorists.

Captain Ridens added, “Just a very few accidents made this a sad holiday for several families. Our goal is to prevent every accident possible. Please drive attentively, sober, and seat belted every time you travel on Missouri’s highways.”
