EMPHASIS: Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry receives updates and enhancements

Governor Blunt today announced the new changes that have taken place with the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. These changes are a direct result of the passage of House Bill 1698 that was signed into law on June 6, 2006.

“I commend the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their effort in providing more information on sex offenders who prey on young children,” Blunt said. “With the addition of these new tools and the 800 number, the accessibility to sexual offender registry information has been improved.”

The Registry has now been updated and enhanced to include the following information regarding the listed offenders: Name(s) including aliases, date(s) of birth, more physical descriptive information including tattoos, home, work, and school addresses, vehicle information of those that are either owned or operated by the offender, complete offense information including conviction/plea and victim age, confinement information, and whether they are in compliance with the registration requirements. More updated photographs will be added as current photographs are now required to be submitted more frequently by the changes in the law. The registry also includes a mapping function that will map the listed offender addresses.

In addition, those without Internet access can obtain Registry information through the new toll free number 1-888-SOR-MSHP (1-888-767-6747). Employees of the Missouri State Highway Patrol answer this number Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
