EMPHASIS: Montgomery City Police Shooting

Chief P. L. Ahern, Commanding Officer of the Montgomery City Police Department, announces on June 2, 2006, at approximately 1205 a.m. two Montgomery City Police Officers stopped a white Cadillac Sedan driven by Bryan Tullock, age 32, of St. Peters, Missouri, near the intersection of 6th Street and Salisbury for a traffic violation.

As one of the officers approached the vehicle, the driver, while still seated in his car, began to fire at the officer with a 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Tullock’s shots struck the officer several times. The second officer at the traffic stop returned fire striking the white Cadillac, this caused the driver of the car flee the scene, while the Montgomery City Officer rendered first aid to his wounded partner.

Tullock drove to a nearby residence and entered the home and shot and killed a 32-year-old white female who was a resident of the house. It appears at this time that Tullock was acquainted with the second victim. After shooting the female, Tullock left the home and drove away where; he encountered a pedestrian who was walking in the area of Curd and 6th streets. Tullock shot the third victim, who was described as a 33 year old white male, several times.

An intense manhunt ensued with the cooperation of the Montgomery City Police, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Audrain County Sheriff’s Office, Wellsville Police, Jonesburg Police, Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol. At approximately 5:42 a.m., Tullock and his vehicle were discovered at the Marshall I. Diggs Conservation Area in rural Montgomery County. After a short scuffle Tullock was taken into custody and taken to the Montgomery County Jail. At the Sheriff’s Office Tullock apparently suffered some type of medical emergency and was subsequently transported to the Audrain Medical Center for treatment.

The officer who was shot during this incident was transported to the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri, and the white male victim was transported to St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, Missouri.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt, evidence of guilt will be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
