EMPHASIS: Sikeston Man Arrested For Possession of Child Pornography And Marijuana

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announces the arrest of Richard C. Myrick, 30, of Sikeston, Missouri, for promoting child pornography, possession of child pornography, and possession of marijuana, on April 6, 2016. The arrest was the result of a lengthy investigation conducted by members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit.

On Wednesday, investigators contacted Myrick at his residence, located on the 200 block of Dockins Street, in Sikeston. As a result of their contact, Myrick was found to be in possession of child pornography and more than 35 grams of marijuana. Myrick was arrested and transported to the Scott County Jail.

The Scott County prosecuting attorney formally charged Myrick with the five felony charges including: three counts of possession of child pornography, 1st degree promoting child pornography, and possession of controlled substance. Myrick was given a court date and later released from the Scott County Jail. The Patrol was assisted by officers of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
