Troop D Announces Results Of Commercial Vehicle Scale Runner Enforcement Operation
Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of a commercial vehicle scale runner enforcement operation conducted on March 8, 2017, near the eastbound and westbound weigh stations along Interstate 44 in Newton County. Troopers and Missouri State Highway Patrol commercial vehicle officers stopped and inspected 30 commercial vehicles for failure to stop at the weigh stations, which resulted in one driver and two vehicles being placed out-of-service. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation.
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Violations -- 7
CMV Hazardous Moving Violation -- 1
Speed Violation -- 1
Driving While Suspended/Revoked Violation -- 1
Seat Belt Violation -- 1
Other Violation Warnings -- 69
Section 304.235 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri states, “All commercial motor vehicles shall be required to stop at an official weigh station, or to be identified through automated means approved by this state and determined to be in compliance without the necessity of stopping, except those licensed for a gross weight of not more than 18,000 pounds shall not be required to stop or to be identified unless so directed by a peace officer or a commercial motor vehicle enforcement officer or inspector.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
