EMPHASIS: MSHP’s 89th Recruit Class Begins Training At Academy


Thirty-six people reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy on Friday, January 16, 2009, to begin the 25-week training course to become a trooper. The 89th Recruit Class is scheduled to graduate on July 10, 2009. As of February 20, 2009, 30 recruits remain in the class. The average age of the members of the 89th Recruit Class is 26.53 years. Of the recruits, four have some college experience, four have an associate’s degree, three have more than 60 hours of college credit, and 17 have bachelor’s degrees. Three of the recruits have worked in law enforcement and three have prior military experience.
