EMPHASIS: Results of Troop E DWI Saturation Patrol

Captain George E. Ridens, Commanding Officer of Troop E, announces the results of a DWI saturation patrol conducted in Troop E that began on March 16, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. and ended on March 17, 2007, at 3:00 a. m. During the operation troopers were assigned to patrol highways with a past history of higher number of traffic crashes and arrests with alcohol or drug impaired drivers.

Troopers made 20 arrests during the shift, five of which were for driving while intoxicated including one felony driving while intoxicated arrest and four minor in possession arrests, and two misdemeanor drug arrests. Traffic citations issued by officers included three summonses for speeding, four for seat belt violations, one for no drivers license, and one non-moving violation. Troopers also issued 61 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.

Captain Ridens stated, “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri. DWI saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways and the troopers in the Troop E will continue to pursue this goal.”
