EMPHASIS:
June Enforcement Efforts Scheduled For Troop D
Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces several enforcement operations that will be conducted sometime during the month of June 2016.
Troop D officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints in Taney and Newton counties. These efforts will concentrate on highways which have been found to have a high number of alcohol-related crashes and enforcement contacts. The sobering fact is that impaired driving contributes to more than 25 percent of all Missouri fatal traffic crashes. That’s why the Missouri State Highway Patrol will join other Missouri law enforcement agencies to crack down on impaired driving throughout the month of June.
Additionally, the Patrol will be conducting hazardous moving violation saturations in Taney, Jasper, and Webster counties. The primary goal of this project is to positively impact traffic problems by reducing crashes. The objectives are to heighten the awareness of the risks associated with impaired driving and increase compliance of the speed limit and seat belt laws.
“The Missouri State Highway Patrol is committed to removing unsafe drivers from our highways,” said Captain Villanueva. “Saturations and sobriety checkpoints are part of the Patrol’s strategy to make Missouri’s roadways safer.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
