On January 26, 2007, at approximately 9:07 p.m. a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling north on Interstate 55 in New Madrid County for a traffic violation.
The driver Kendra L. Plunk, 20, of Sikeston, Missouri, was stopped for a traffic and equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, permission to search was requested and granted. As a result of the search, 9 bags of marijuana were located in the coat of passenger Zachery E. Cook, 18, of Canalou, Missouri. An additional bag of marijuana was located on passenger Chelsie M. Trapp, 19, of Matthews, Missouri. Kendra L Plunk, Zachery E. Cook, and Chelsie M.
