EMPHASIS: Colonel James F. Keathley Announces Promotion

Colonel James F. Keathley, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces the following promotion effective February 4, 2007:

Sergeant Jerry C. West was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and designated assistant director of the Training Division, General Headquarters, Jefferson City.

West was appointed to the Patrol on August 3, 1986, as a member of the 58th Recruit Class. Upon completing his training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to Troop F, Zone 3, Boone County. On February 1, 1994, he was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone commander of Zone 3, Boone County. West was promoted to sergeant and designated zone supervisor of Zone 10, Boone County, on December 1, 1996. He transferred to the Training Division as an instructor on June 29, 2003.

Lieutenant West was born in Poplar Bluff, MO. He graduated from Camdenton High School in Camdenton, MO, in 1980. Lt. West and his wife, Susan, have two children: Danielle and Kayla.
