EMPHASIS: Troop E Seeking 11 Qualified Candidates To Be Troopers


Captain G.E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, would like to inform the public of upcoming testing for the position of trooper with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. There are 89 openings statewide, 11 of which are within the 13-county area of Troop E. The beginning salary for a trooper is $36,408.

Written and fitness testing for the position of trooper will take place at 10 a.m., on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Troop E Headquarters, 4947 Highway 67 North, Poplar Bluff, MO. Troop E is located on U.S. Highway 60, just north of the city limits of Poplar Bluff, MO, in Butler County. Interested persons are asked to report to Troop E Headquarters to take the 1 1/2 hour written examination. Immediately following the written examination, candidates will participate in the fitness for duty assessment at the Poplar Bluff Junior High School. The fitness for duty assessment includes pushups, sit-ups, vertical jump, trigger pull, 1 1/2 mile run, and 300-meter run. The successful candidates will be eligible to continue in the selection process for the 90th Recruit Class, scheduled to begin training at the Patrol Law Enforcement Academy on July 1, 2009.

Prior to testing, interested individuals must apply online at www.motrooper.com. Applicants who have questions regarding the process should call 1-800-796-7000 and speak with a recruiter. The Patrol will offer additional test dates scheduled for October 27 through November 7, 2008, at the Missouri State Highway Patrol General Headquarters in Jefferson City, MO.

Applicants will be notified regarding their eligibility to continue in the Trooper Section Process by November 24, 2008. The remaining phases of the Trooper Selection Process will occur in Jefferson City, MO.
