EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E DWI Saturation

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, announces the results of a Driving While Intoxicated Saturation conducted in Troop E on June 16, 2007, in Butler County. During the operation troopers were assigned to patrol highways that, historically, have experienced a higher number of traffic crashes and hazardous moving violations.
Troopers made five arrests during the shift: four arrests for driving while intoxicated, and one misdemeanor arrest. Traffic citations issued by officers included nine summonses for speeding, six for seat belt violations, three for no driver’s license, two hazardous moving violations, and one nonmoving violations. Troopers also issued 58 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.
Captain Ridens stated, “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri. DWI and hazardous driving saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated and dangerous drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal.”
