EMPHASIS: Authorities Investigate Suspicious Death in Carter County








On August 9, 2005, emergency personnel received information of a body lying in a fence approximately two miles west of Van Buren, MO on a stretch of old US 60. Ambulance personnel responded to the scene and found James C. Freeze, 43, Van Buren, MO fatally injured. The Carter County Sheriff’s Department, the Carter County Coroner’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control responded to the scene and a full investigation is currently underway.





Due to the suspicious nature of the injuries, law enforcement officials are treating the death as a homicide scene. Anyone with information concerning earlier activities of James Freeze or who has other pertinent information concerning this case is encouraged to contact the Carter County Sheriff’s Department at 573-323-4510.
