EMPHASIS: Troop E Officers To Participate In "Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over" DWI Campaign

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces Troop E Officers will join other Missouri law enforcement agencies in the “Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign from August 17, 2012 through September 3, 2012. During this time period, officers will be conducting DWI enforcement programs in the Troop E area that will include DWI saturations and a sobriety checkpoint.
Consequences of drunk driving include jail time, loss of driver license, or being sentenced to the use of ignition interlock systems. Financial effects could include increased insurance rates, attorney fees, court costs, lost time from work, and the potential of losing one’s job or job prospects. When family, friends, and co-workers find out, violators can also face personal embarrassment and humiliation.
Captain Ridens said, “Drinking and driving is simply not worth the consequences.” The Missouri State Highway Patrol will continue to vigorously enforce Missouri DWI laws.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges all citizens to report and vehicle they observe operating in a careless manner. The public can contact the Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or from a cellular phone at *55.
