EMPHASIS: Captain Ridens announces sobriety checkpoint in Cape Girardeau County.

Captain George E. Ridens, Commanding Officer, Troop E, announces that sometime during the month of August 2006, a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in Cape Girardeau County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies will conduct the checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations, which have been found to experience higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts and accidents.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges all citizens to report any vehicle they observe operating in a careless manner. The public can contact the Missouri State Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or on their cellular phone at *55.
