EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E DWI Saturation

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, announces the results of a Driving While Intoxicated Saturation conducted in Troop E on August 31, 2007. During the operation troopers were assigned to patrol highways that, historically, have experienced a higher number of traffic crashes and hazardous moving violations.
Troopers made 11 arrests during the shift: four arrests for driving while intoxicated, one felony drug arrest, one felony warrant arrest, and five other misdemeanor arrests. Traffic citations issued by officers included eight summonses for speeding, 23 for seat belt violations, eight for no driver’s license, one hazardous moving violation, two for careless and imprudent driving, two for following too close, and three nonmoving violations. Troopers issued 103 warnings for various other traffic violations during the operation.
Captain Ridens stated, “The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in southeast Missouri. DWI and hazardous driving saturations are a part of the Patrol’s effort to remove intoxicated and dangerous drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal.”
