EMPHASIS: Sentencing Conducted in the Death of Trooper D. Kevin Floyd

On Tuesday, November 21, 2006, Mr. Forrest L. Ghan, 66, of Republic, Missouri, was sentenced as a result of his conviction on involuntary manslaughter charges for his role in the death of Trooper D. Kevin Floyd.

In proceedings held at the Texas County Courthouse, Circuit Judge Tracy Storie sentenced Ghan to two years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, with the sentence to be suspended, contingent on the successful completion of four years of supervised probation. Ghan was also ordered to pay a fine of $5000 and was ordered to complete 50 hours of community service for each of the four years of his probation for a total of 200 hours of community service.

A vehicle being driven by Ghan struck and killed Trooper Floyd while he was conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 60 near Dunn, Missouri on September 22, 2005.
