EMPHASIS:
Results Of Troop B July Fourth Special Enforcement Projects
Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the 2017 Fourth of July weekend traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop B area, which consists of 16 counties in Northeast Missouri. During the holiday weekend, troopers participated in Operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness & Reduction Effort.) Troop B troopers conducted additional holiday travel crash reduction operations on U.S. Highways 24, 36, and 63 on Friday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 4, 2017. DWI saturations were also conducted in Randolph, Monroe, and Ralls counties.
During the 2017 Fourth of July weekend traffic crash counting period, which began at 6 p.m., Friday, June 30, and ended at 11:59 p.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2017, Troop B officers investigated 22 traffic crashes resulting in 15 injuries, and no fatalities. Officers also investigated one boat crash resulting in one individual being injured. Preliminary enforcement totals show troopers made 16 driving while intoxicated arrests, two boating while intoxicated arrests, and six drug arrests.
“Even though this major holiday period has ended, we want to urge motorists to continue to drive safely and always wear their seat belts,” stated Captain Wilt.
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
