EMPHASIS:
Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Lewis County
Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a DWI sobriety checkpoint conducted in Lewis County. The checkpoint was conducted from 11 p.m. on June 4, to 3 a.m. on June 5, 2016, on U.S. Highway 61, south of Missouri Route B, with the assistance of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. The goal of the enforcement operation was to detect impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation, officers made one arrest for driving while intoxicated, two misdemeanor drug arrests, and two misdemeanor warrant arrests, and issued nine traffic citations and three warnings. The following is a list of traffic citations issued:
3 -- Citations were issued for seat belt violations.
5 -- Citations were issued for driver’s license violations.
1 -- Citation was issued for an insurance violation.
"The Patrol will conduct more traffic enforcement programs in the upcoming months," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver."
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
