EMPHASIS: Sergeant Dale H. Moreland Retires



Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the retirement of Sergeant Dale H. Moreland effective April 1, 2011, after more than 32 years of dedicated service with the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Moreland is a native of Cuba, MO, and a 1973 graduate of Cuba High School. In March 1977, he graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg with a bachelor’s of science degree in criminal justice administration and a minor in mass communication. From March 1977 to December 1978, he worked as a deputy for the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

On January 15, 1979, he began his career with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a member of the 49th Recruit Class. Upon graduating from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, his first assignment was Zone 7, Stoddard County. On March 1, 1989, he was promoted to corporal and assigned to Zone 2, Butler and Ripley counties. On January 1, 1995, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and assigned to Zone 11, Stoddard County. On February 1, 2006, Moreland transferred to Troop E Headquarters and was designated the public information and education officer. He remained in this position until his retirement.

Sgt. Moreland is married to Carol (Waller), and the couple has two children, Justin (and his wife, Jill), of Jackson, TN, and Kenneth, of Dexter, MO. They also have one grandchild, Justin and Jill’s daughter, Addison.
