State Leaders Rally for Kickoff of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week



JEFFERSON CITY, April 7, 2005—Statewide officials including Lt. Governor Peter Kinder and Attorney General Jay Nixon will speak at a ceremony marking the beginning of the 2005 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week next Monday, April 11 at 12 p.m. at the 1st floor rotunda of the Missouri State Capitol Building. The event marks the 25th anniversary of the awareness week that falls April 10-16 this year.



Det. Jeff Westbrook of the Columbia Police Department will emcee the ceremony, and crime survivor Theresa Lamm will share her testimony. Various victim service agencies will have informational booths set up at the 3rd floor rotunda prior to the ceremony, and MADD will host a reception at the 3rd floor rotunda following the event.





WHO: Lt. Governor Peter Kinder, Attorney General Jay Nixon, Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (MAPA) President Bob Wilkins, MADD State Chair Michael Boland and Theresa Lamm, a crime victim.
